If you were planning to visit Victoria BC in 2020, and now your trip has been suspended in the midst of unexpected events, we want you to know – when this is over, we will still be here. The super natural wonders of the west coast will be here. Our rainforests will be here. Our extraordinary coastal vistas and magnificent sunsets will still be here. Our wildlife will still be here. Millions upon millions of flowers will still be here. And the gracious, friendly Canadians who call this island home, will be here to welcome you.
For now, though, it is time to dream.
Even if you weren’t planning to visit Victoria BC, I’m here to help change your mind. You see, we live in one of the most soul-enriching, peaceful and pristine places of the world. Vancouver Island is the Pacific Island you never knew you needed to experience, until now.
With the chaos of 2020 behind us, we think the best vacations will offer fewer crowds and peaceful activities. People will want to get back to nature and enjoy simple pleasures. They will want to connect with authentic people and eat foods that come from the local land and sea. This is the very core of Vancouver Island and we look forward to the day you are able to step off that ferry and discover what we already know. This Island is a pretty special place.
Greater Victoria covers a vast region of nearly 700 square kilometres but with a population of just 375,000, there is plenty of room for all of us. Don’t let our small size fool you though. We offer amenities comparable to every major cosmopolitan city with the old-world charm of a European village.
Our locally produced small batch craft beers, spirits and wines consistently win international awards. We proudly support our local farmers with several restaurants whose menus are created on the principal of locally grown or produced food. Think grass-fed meats, free-range chickens and eggs, hormone-free dairy and cheese, wild caught premium seafood, with 100% known origin and traceability, hearty breads and buns, pure honey, salt direct from the sea and much, much more. These products are also available at many of our local farmers markets where vendors are selected based on selling goods that they make, bake or grow.
We’re confident you are going to love the cuisine of the Pacific Northwest and we also know that you aren’t here just to eat. Imagine a place where you can:
Whatever your Victoria vacation looks like, the Island delivers.
